MAGIC FLUTE “8K Opera Projection”

︎    Commissioned by Marco Brambilla, this collaboration was realized with my dear friend and long-time creatuive partner Jens Mebes at Ntropic. It reimagines the opera stage as an expansive, kaleidoscopic landscape, extending its physical boundaries into a vast, endless environment.

Mozart's deep connection to Freemasonry is at the core of this visual narrative. As a member of the Masonic lodge Zur Wohltätigkeit ("Beneficence") in Vienna—joining at age 28—Mozart embraced the ideals of enlightenment, brotherhood, and reason. These principles are profoundly embedded in his body of work and most notably expressed in The Magic Flute—we drew from the symbolic trifecta of Masonic ideals to craft three distinct worlds that align with the opera’s philosophical themes.

Pyramids, celestial bodies, columns, and other symbols of enlightenment, reason, and brotherhood form the foundation of these immersive landscapes. Painstakingly developed over months, each element evolves dynamically within the kaleidoscopic design, guiding the audience through a spiritual and intellectual journey.

The result is a transformative video backdrop reimagining the opera stage as an installation-style canvas. By seamlessly merging intricate symbolism with cutting-edge visuals, the project invites modern audiences to experience Mozart’s masterpiece in a sensory-rich, multidimensional way, redefining the possibilities of theatrical production.
